Amotekun Saves The Southwest Again, Arrests 18 Suspected Bandits

18-persons suspected to be bandits were intercepted and arrested in Ondo State by men of the state’s Security Network, codename Amotekun

A statement by the State’s Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspected bandits were intercepted in a bus in the State’s capital  on Friday.

The arrested bus which has taken off from Katsina State was part of three buses which have escaped different checkpoints in the state.

According to Adetunji, cache of ammunitions were hidden in the bus. He listed the ammunition to include: 500 daggers and different sizes of knives and guns.

This is a milestone achievement for the security network which at the birthing stage had faced serious opposition from the Federal Government of Nigeria who argued that, the security outfit is illegal.

The eventual successful establishment of this security network has triggered similar actions from many other regions of the country, especially in the Southern parts of Nigeria forcing establishment their own regional security outfit to tackle the rising spate of insecurity in the country

However, up to date Lagos, out of the six states in the South-West is yet to announce the take-off date of Amotekun corps in the State.
