African Leaders Of ECOWAS Held A Simple Summit Today In Abuja

The african leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held a simple summit on the 12th of December, 2021, in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

Some African presidents arrived in Abuja yesterday, December 11, 2021, for the summit, and the government treated them well.

This meeting has come after ECOWAS leaders imposed travel bans on families and members of the military junta in Guinea during their extra-ordinary summit in September 2020.

Mohamed Bazoum, President of Niger, arrived in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, as one of the African presidents attending the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Summit.

The leaders discussed many things that were based on violent extremism and terrorism in the sub-region.

They discussed the common currency, and two political cases which concerned Guinea and Mail, and the coup which they experienced recently.

The ECOWAS Authority Heads of State session also talked about the situations in Mail, and about the leaders’ election next year.

They also looked into the situation in Guinea and the timetable for the transition.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional group of 15 countries that was established in 1975.

The community said that their mission is to promote economic integration in all fields of industry, telecommunications, transport, agriculture, energy, natural resources, monetary, commerce, financial questions, and cultural and social matters.

The Commission is led by a president, with a vice president as the deputy. The president is also assisted in carrying out his duties by the commissioners and the Auditor General, who handle different sectors.
