UK To Receive New Prime Minister This Friday As Liz Truss Resigns
British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation as Prime Minister yesterday, only 45 days after taking office, making her the UK’s shortest-serving Prime Minister in history.
Truss said in a statement yesterday: “I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability. Families and businesses were worried about how to pay their bills.
Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine threatens the security of our whole continent. And our country has been held back for too long by low economic growth.”
Sir Keir Starmer, the leader of the opposition Labour Party, responded by calling for an immediate general election, ”The Conservative Party has shown it no longer has a mandate to govern.”
