“The Main Reason We Arrested The Female Soldier Who Accepted The Marriage Proposal Of A Youth Corper” – Nigerian Army
The Nigerian army detained a female soldier who was proposed to by a National Youth Service Corps member at the Kwara State National Youth Service Corps orientation camp.
They revealed that they arrested and detained the female soldier who accepted the proposal from a male corps member in the Yikpata orientation camp in Kwara State.
They said that she violated military rules by being in a relationship with her trainee while on duty, and so she will be punished for her offense.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the youth corper, and the female soldier have not said anything regarding the case.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a program designed to involve Nigerian graduates in nation building, and soldiers sent to train the Nigerian graduates are prohibited from having romantic relationships with corps members.

The female soldier was arrested after a video which showed her accepting the marriage proposal went viral on social media.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu commented on her offense, stating that her actions demonstrated that she took advantage of the male youth corper, which was contrary to military discipline and good order.
He further said that the female soldeur disobeyed two rules, which are the Nigerian army guidelines for being on social media and being in a romantic relationship while in her military uniform.
He explained that Nigerian military officers are expected to serve for at least three years before they have a romantic relationship, especially before they marry.
