Buhari Approves $8.5m To Evacuate Nigerians From Ukraine
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved $8.5 million to evacuate 5,000 Nigerians who are stranded because of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The 5,000 people include Nigerians who are registered, and those who are not registered, and are stranded in Ukraine
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, was the one who announced this today after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo chaired.
The FEC approved the use of the mon to evacuate Nigerians who are currently in Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Poland.
He added that three aircraft, two from Air Peace and one from Max Air Airlines, would run as many shifts as possible to make the evacuation of the Nigerians who are currently on the ground possible.

Nigerians Storm Ukraine Embassy In Abuja, Volunteer To Fight Russian Invasion
According to the minister, all the agencies are fully ready with all the resources to make sure that the aircraft leaves Nigeria today to start the evacuation.
At the moment, about 1,940 evacuees are in different embassies in neighboring countries, including Ukraine.
And the authorities said they are working hard round the clock to ensure that they bring them back to Nigeria safely.
